Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. It is a secular organization open to all persons regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, or political preference.
During recent times, Rotary’s new strategic plan is underpinned by four key priorities – to increase our impact, expand our reach, enhance participant engagement, and increase our ability to adapt.
The emergence of new club models is evident that Rotary clubs and districts are working actively to advance these priorities.
These new club models represent an opportunity to connect with a more diverse group of individuals – particularly those who are unable or unwilling to join our traditional clubs. While new club models have been emerging for some time, the 2016 Council on Legislation decision to promote flexibility and innovation has arguably accelerated their development.
One of the newer concepts was Cause-based clubs – whose members share a passion for a particular cause and whose service projects and activities center around that cause.
It was during the Rotary year 2020-21, during the interactions then with Josh DG Dr Sandeep Kadam delineated the concept of Caused-based clubs. Then an idea was floated by Josh President Rtn Samir Kant Shamshery of RC New Bombay Seaside, who is an ardent golfer, that a community of golfers share a common passion and this group has a fairly large presence in and around the district 3142. The Josh DG Dr Kadam, as a true leader, swiftly embarked on the plan to have golfers Rotary club and soon a team of RC New Bombay Seaside was active which included Rtn Manoj Thakur as NCA of the new club and Rtn Harsharan Singh, fondly called as “Harry”.
The quality of Effective leadership always reflects in bringing the results and that is so evident in Rotary. A series of activities led by NCA Rtn Manoj Thakur came in quick succession which included “Interest Meet” for the Cause-based golfers Club where Dr. Ulhas Kolhatkar presented a very compelling case showing the benefits of association with Rotary. Harry sponsored a new promising golfer and an immense Leader Rtn Rajiv Gaur. These activities generated quite an excitement among the golfers on having a new kind of club for their passion and loved game of golf. In quick paced succession the Membership chair Rtn. Kamaljit Singh Dhillon collated and completed details and application formalities under the guidance of NCA Rtn. Manoj Thakur.
Thus a new Cause Based Club RC Navi Mumbai Valley Golfers was chartered on 16th April 2021 with bubbling 29 all new golfing Rotrians with Rtn. Rajiv Gaur as the Charter President.
During the District Shukriya on 16th July 2022, the Club received Silver appreciation from the PDG Mayuresh Warke.
In FAB year Rtn Narendra Asija has been elected as the President and Rtn Mukul Gupta as Secretary & Treasurer.
